‘Frozen 3’ Concept Art Shown, 2027 Release Eyed; Filmmaker Jennifer Lee Teases That There’s Another Sequel – D23

Disney literally let it go at D23 on Friday, specifically it let it rip with the first look — specifically concept art — at the upcoming Frozen 3, the threequel to the original animated franchise that’s racked up $2.76 billion at global box office and two Oscar wins.

Filmmaker Jennifer Lee said, “there were a lot of questions coming out of Frozen 2…it will take two films to answer them.” She did this without saying on the nose that there will be a Frozen 4. Nor was a logo for Frozen 4 flashed up on the screen. She did say Frozen III would hit screens in 2027 (Disney has Nov.24, 2027 on hold for animated movie –that’s the traditional Thanksgiving spot for Frozen). By the way, this lines up with what Disney CEO Bob Iger said on GMA back in November –that, yes, Virginia, there’s a Frozen 4.

She then showed off the first concept art of Frozen III: “It captures the scene of Anna and Elsa…everyone at Disney animation is excited to be back at in this world.”

The art was of Elsa and Anna separately on horses heading toward a summery horizon. Olaf was on the back of Anna’s horse. Take from that what you will.
